On the Road Adventure

It has been a good trip so far. Today I was able to confirm that it was good that I did not change my plans for the last two days to move drywall for a house in Ishinomaki. On our way from Sendai to Naha, Okinawa, as we were boarding a train to Haneda Airport for the flight portion of our trip, my back suddenly spasmed–nearly immobilizing me. We did not have seats of the full train so we had planned to stand the more than 2 hour trip. However with my back spasm, I did not know how I could stand for the duration. As we prayed, God answered a big pray request of the last 3 days–a guest house that had been full opened up for our 2 days in Tokyo after Okinawa. None of our friends could help us, all the hotels were full with the holiday, and every missionary guest house had been full. I had confidence the Lord was going to provide but had not a clue how he would. The guest house that finally opened up had been our first choice! PTL!

I can tell people are praying and for that I thank the God who hears!

I have sensed the Lord revealing something to me as I read this passage in 1 Corinthians 2:1-5:

When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or

superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.

For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except

Jesus Christ and him crucified.

I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling.

My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive

words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that

your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power.

The Lord has been showing me to serve in weakness rather than strength.

Finally, here is a question for me and anyone who ever feels that “if God would just strengthen me for this challenge, I could do so well.” If God does not strengthen you as you would like, could it be that he wants to use you in weakness in the situation so that his power might be revealed in spite of a seeming impossibility?
