God’s Unchanging Agenda 9 of 32

Lecrae sings about so many of us “eating flies and maggots instead of bread.” Like Esau we often settle for a momentary pleasure like eating some savory stew. God wants to give his people such succulent delights from his garden. He waits to enjoy sweet fellowship with his children who are willing.

9) SCRIPTURE Gen. 25:20-34 Isaac married Rachel and they had twins but God told them before the birth “The older will serve the younger.” As the boys grew into young men, Jacob, the younger brother, tricked Esau, the elder brother, into swearing away his birthright for a bowl of stew (Gen. 25:29-34).

REFLECT What is the significance of Jacob getting the birthright handed down by Abraham through Isaac his father (Gen. 28:13-15)?

REFLECT What is Esau a picture of when he despised his birthright (Heb. 12:16; Rom. 9:13)?
