God’s Unchanging Agenda 20 of 32

Today we have a story of King David and one reason he was a man after God’s own heart. The writer of Proverbs wrote, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,” and “The fear of the Lord is clean.” What we fear is what controls us. God is the Only One good enough, that we should gladly reverence and follow without equivocation.

SCRIPTURE 2 Sam. 23:2-4; 24:24-25 King David’s last words succinctly give us the key requirement of effective leadership: The Fear of God. This is worked out in the attitude that in worship the leader who fears God will not offer to God anything that has cost him nothing.

REFLECT Is God the “audience of One” you work for? Why or why not?

REFLECT Do you desire to show your dependence on and adoration of God in your pattern of your offerings?
